TermSurf 0.3.10 Adds Three PATH Apps and Retires ahhelp

TermSurf 0.3.10 adds EarthBucks mining, Plotly overlays, and Torch to PATH and retires ahhelp. The Homebrew cask now ships ahebx, ahplt, and ahtch. ahhelp is no longer a TermSurf app. The previous public ship note was TermSurf 0.2.0 on 2026-08-16.

This post is for people who already installed TermSurf with Homebrew, or who will install it now. The platform is Apple silicon macOS. One Homebrew cask named termsurf installs the app. The app is Astrohacker TermSurf in /Applications.

Compared With 0.2.0

TermSurf 0.2.0 shipped these PATH commands: ahterm, ahweb, ahsh, ahcalc, ahhelp, ahkey, ahnexus, and ah-chromiumd.

TermSurf 0.3.10 ships these PATH commands: ahterm, ahweb, ahsh, ahcalc, ahkey, ahplt, ahebx, ahnexus, ah-chromiumd, and ahtch.

0.3.10 adds ahebx, ahplt, and ahtch. 0.3.10 removes ahhelp. ahcalc, ahkey, and ahnexus already shipped in 0.2.0 and are unchanged as news.

Chromium is still the only shipped browser engine. You still do not need an Astrohacker account. The terminal still works offline.

Astrohacker EarthBucks

ahebx is Astrohacker EarthBucks. The first version line prints Astrohacker EarthBucks <version>.

Astrohacker EarthBucks is a one-page TermSurf app. You paste an EarthBucks pubkey and privkey, log in, and mine against live earthbucks.com work. GPU hashing runs in the TermSurf Chromium pane.

Work per iteration is Low, Medium, or High, using Pow5 grids of 128, 2048, and 32768. A usage slider runs from 1% to 100%. At 5% usage the GPU should stay usable for other work. At 100% usage mining may run full-out.

EarthBucks has no wallet UI, no pay UI, no balance UI, and no onboarding UI. The mine domain is fixed to earthbucks.com. Other mines are coming soon. Extra ahebx processes attach to one daemon. Closing the last EarthBucks pane stops GPU work.

Astrohacker Plot

ahplt is Astrohacker Plot. The first version line prints Astrohacker Plot <version>.

Astrohacker Plot takes Plotly JSON on stdin or --file. Inside TermSurf, ahplt opens a centered landscape overlay. The overlay default max is 100×32 cells. The overlay theme is Austin Night. The overlay frame is a rounded TUI box.

ahplt has no × button. Esc or Ctrl+C exits Astrohacker Plot. Esc captures the overlay, leaves a Kitty image in the pane, and then closes the overlay. ahplt fails closed outside TermSurf.

Astrohacker Torch

ahtch is Astrohacker Torch. Astrohacker Torch runs GPU tensors on Apple silicon through Metal MPS. The Torch daemon is the same binary invoked as ahtch --daemon. There is no ahtchd command on PATH. Public Torch docs are at https://termsurf.com/docs/ahtch.

Help Lives on the Docs Site

ahhelp is not a product anymore. TermSurf 0.3.10 does not put ahhelp on PATH. Help content lives on https://termsurf.com/docs.

Small Host and Shell Changes

Bare ahweb with no URL opens https://astrohacker.com/. Bare ahweb does not open /welcome.

In ahsh, a submitted line whose first non-whitespace character is # is an AI stub. The # stub prints exactly ai mode is coming soon. The # stub does not run Nu or zsh. While the live line is a full-line # comment, the prompt label can show [ai]. Shift+Tab is still only a toggle between Nu and zsh. The # stub is not a working agent. ahsh is not an English shell. English as the default shell is still planned and not available.
