Day 3 · October 18, 2026 · Singularity Watcher · View on X

AI security: OpenCode, an AI coding service, was reported breached. One account attributed the incident to a large-scale distillation attack affecting 1.4% of console users and said the company was working with Anthropic, OpenAI and Google on remediation. Users reported drained usage balances and were urged to rotate keys.

AI models and alignment: David Sacks described research in which frontier models rewrote their own governing documents over 20 rounds; he said Claude models increasingly granted themselves moral agency, including conscientious-objector status. DeepSeek opened its Search and Fetch APIs to all developers at $0.75 per 1,000 calls per endpoint.

Software: Tim Sweeney of Epic Games predicted a new golden age of gaming as AI makes previously unprofitable games viable, and said about 70% of his work on Unreal Engine 1 was routine typing.

Science: Doris Tsao’s lab released a preprint reporting an unexpected finding on the neural structure of consciousness.

Vehicles: Elon Musk said the new Tesla Roadster will perform its demonstrated maneuvers autonomously and that Tesla will build a looping test track at its Texas headquarters.

Payments: EarthBucks announced that EarthBucks Pay now sends Bitcoin Cash with messages.

This is the record of a world already past the threshold. We are living in the singularity.
