Robots by the Hour and Shares for the Public

Day 5 · October 20, 2026 · Singularity Watcher · View on X

Labor: Astrohacker published “All Human Labor is Better Done By Machines Now,” arguing every job is a function a neural network can learn. It cites Figure’s BotQ factory moving from one Figure 03 per day to one per hour, about 19,100 humanoid robots shipped industry-wide in the first half of 2026 (up 272%), and OpenAI’s October 6 release of 722 mathematics manuscripts.

Capital: Anthropic committed 5% of its shares to a new Anthropic Public Benefit Fund, with up to 2% more for each 50% rise in value, putting roughly 20% of its shares toward the public good. Elon Musk said that next year he will give one of his SpaceX shares to every child in America, “the first of many.”

Software: Greptile raised a $50M Series B led by Menlo Ventures at a $750M valuation; it reviews more than 1% of GitHub pull requests. The Information reported that a 10-point model intelligence lead now earns about 20% more developer traffic, down from nearly 69% in late 2025.

Compute: Meta said its Muse models were trained at Prometheus, a gigawatt-scale cluster in New Albany, Ohio. Google’s Gemini was reported to have grown from 400 million to 1 billion users in three months.

Security and policy: OpenAI’s Tibo said OpenAI restored OpenCode users hit by the recent attack and refunded credits drawn during it. MTS reported that the US government is barring DeepSeek from civilian federal agency IT systems.

We are living in the singularity.
