Identellica

An identity service that connected to EarthBucks accounts.

Verified users could synchronize their username and post longer block messages with links. The first integration did not give a mining advantage.

The separate verification system was later deprecated. The accounts and privileges it supported had their own migration history.

How it works

  • Connect a verified identity to an account

EarthBucks sent users through a separate verification step. On return, it synchronized their username and made some additional account features available. In the first integration those features included longer block messages containing links.

  • Separate privileges from personal data

The integration recorded which verification checks had occurred. The later deletion report distinguished status flags and request tokens held by EarthBucks from identity images or scans, which EarthBucks said it never stored.

  • Retire a dependency in stages

The verification service was deprecated before the consuming application removed all of its stored integration data. An existing account’s verification flag had a separate transition period.

Check the first integration’s actual effect

A verified user could post a longer message containing a link; that integration did not yet grant a mining advantage. Testing the account capability separately from the mining reward prevents a later product feature from being attributed to an earlier release.
