PoW Validator
GPU verification of EarthBucks proof of work.
A mine could delegate expensive proof checks to a GPU-backed service. The public homepage and the validation API served different audiences.
The August 2024 announcement described an API already operating behind a coming-soon homepage.
How it works
Move expensive validation off the web server
EarthBucks mining required GPU work. A mine’s ordinary application server could send proof-of-work verification to a cloud service with GPUs instead of spending its CPU budget reproducing the computation.
Keep the machine endpoint distinct from the homepage
The public page still said coming soon when the author announced that the validation API was operating. A browser request to the root and a mine’s validation request exercised different interfaces.
Verify a submitted mining result
A mine needed to check the proposed proof before accepting it. Testing a known-good proof alongside a deliberately altered one exercises the validator’s contract; successfully fetching its landing page would test neither result. The good and bad proofs provide an independent check on changes to GPU code, even when a coding agent proposes those changes.
